Deluge

"And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison, and will go forth and deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, and will gather them together for the battle; the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up over the breadth of the earth and encompassed the camp of the saints, and the beloved city." -Apocalypse 20

The United States’ border is open.

You may hear of this law or that statute, about the nuances of state-by-state policies and the complex webs of visa applications and asylum claims and all other manner of verbal dust in the air. But the fundamental truth is that the border has broken down. Pushed aside or climbed over. An idea beaten by rhetorical hammers for decades and now finally destroyed.

This is so because the civilizational border has broken down in a metaphysical sense. The civilization has lost the will to defend itself. Critical mass of various cancers has taken root within the system. Delusions and hostilities have been baked into the regime’s operating procedures. The natural defensive arguments of the nation’s founding stock are quite literally forbidden (or at least against U.S. Civil Rights law). Recriminations will fly and a political backlash may yet take serious shape, but it doesn’t change the fact that a true deluge is underway, and we may not see its end in our lifetime.

The bad faith claims that got us here — which soothed and blinded so many people of the West — will crumble under the reality of this deluge. The whispers that all people are the same, that you can keep what you love about your world as it’s fundamentally transformed, that the culture and institutions built by a different people will hold up under the strain of another people. That First World status can be retained while importing the Third World. All these fantasies will fall away. The lies can’t last forever, this is true. But they’ve lasted long enough to get us here. And what comes next will be a world to which the vast majority of modern Western people are ill-suited. Some version of breakdown is assured. Violence is unavoidable. Collapse is on the table.

Diamonds squeezed from coal, perhaps. But that takes times, and a hell of a lot of pressure.
